Every council sets its own medical requirements for taxi and private hire licensing – most use the DVLA D4 standard or their own version of it. Our medicals are accepted by licensing authorities across Surrey, Sussex and Kent. Bring the form your council requires and we'll complete and sign it on the day; if your authority doesn't issue its own, we can complete the DVLA D4.

Taxi medical questions
Most councils issue their own medical form, which we complete at the appointment. If yours does not, we complete the DVLA D4 instead.
Most licensing authorities base their taxi and private hire medical on the DVLA Group 2 (D4) standards, the same standards used for lorry and bus drivers. Some councils use the DVLA D4 form itself; others issue their own version. We complete and sign whichever your authority requires, and the £102 fee covers either.

The doctor goes through your medical history and any medication, checks your eyesight, and carries out the examination your council's form requires – covering areas such as blood pressure, heart health and general fitness to drive. A typical appointment takes 30–45 minutes, and your form is completed and signed before you leave.
Your licensing authority sets the schedule. Most require a medical with a first application, then at renewal points or from a certain age, and sooner if a medical condition changes. Your licence conditions or your council's licensing pages say when yours is due.
Yes. Bring the form your licensing authority has given you and we complete and sign it during the appointment. If you are not sure which form you need, tell us your council when you book and we will confirm.
Bring a list of your medication and any relevant GP or specialist letters. Some councils require the examining doctor to see your medical records or a GP summary. We tell you what your authority needs when you book.
