Fitness to drive a minibus, confirmed by an occupational health advisor
Schools, councils and community transport groups have staff and volunteers who drive a minibus as part of their role. The minibus driver medical confirms each driver is fit to carry passengers, and gives your organisation a certificate to keep on file.
Drivers who need to gain or renew a D1 (minibus) or PCV licence need a DVLA D4 medical instead, completed by a doctor. You can book a D4 on our HGV, LGV and PCV page.
Safe to carry passengers
The checks cover eyesight, blood pressure, mobility and general health, so you know each driver is fit to carry passengers.

Assessed to the DVLA Group 2 fitness standards, unless your organisation sets a different requirement.
Your policy sets the interval
How often drivers are seen is your organisation's decision. Any review date is noted on the certificate.

Added tests, such as a hearing test, can be included where your organisation's policy requires them.

Minibus medical questions
No. The minibus driver medical is a fitness assessment led by an occupational health advisor, for drivers who already hold the licence. A DVLA D4 medical is completed by a doctor on the D4 form to gain or renew a D1 (minibus) or PCV licence. We provide both, and you can book a D4 online on our HGV, LGV and PCV page.
The DVLA Group 2 fitness standards – the criteria used for bus and lorry drivers – unless your organisation sets a different requirement, in which case we assess to that.

Yes. For a team of drivers we run the medicals on site across Surrey, Sussex, Kent and London, and nationwide by arrangement. Individual drivers are seen at our clinic in Dorking.
We invoice your organisation. Drivers do not pay on the day.
Each driver's certificate is issued within 24 hours of clinical review.
